Hi and welcome to Broadway Barre! My name is Melissa Smith and I have been a dancer since the age of three and a dance instructor for over 20 years. I began taking barre fitness classes at a local studio in 2015 and immediately fell in love with this low impact, effective workout method that blended Ballet, Pilates, and Yoga. I became ACE certified in the Buffalo Barre method in 2016 and began teaching barre fitness at Broadway Barre out of Lancaster Dance Center. In March 2020 when the Covid-19 pandemic forced Broadway Barre to go completely virtual, I continued to teach online and introduce barre fitness to many new clients and eventually became the owner in 2021. It is my mission to make Broadway Barre an accessible, sustainable, and fun method of exercise for all ages and fitness levels. My experience with barre fitness has taught me to never underestimate the power of a low impact workout.
